Pathways: Vehicles

The State of Tennessee has trapped at least 1 gypsy moth each year since the 1970s. The majority of these moths have hitched a ride on vehicles coming from an area of infestation! Cars, campers, outdoor equipment and even swing sets have all been the source of gypsy moth infestations in Tennessee over the past 40 years. Luckily no gypsy moth populations have become established thanks to efforts by cooperating agencies to detect and eradicate this insect. But the gypsy moth is not the only forest pest that can be transported this way. Please take the time to inspect your vehicle, camper, or other items in your next move or visit to Tennessee for signs of these invasive pests.
